Game Day “Meet Your Knights”: FY Shea Casey

We’re back, Knights fans, for day two of our final SUNYAC Pool Play weekend! Here to say hello is first-year setter Shea Casey from East Moriches, NY!

My full name is… Shea Landon Casey.

My major is… Undecided Business.

My family members are… Ryan (dad), Heather (mom), and brother Andrew (13 yrs.).

My family members who competed in college or professional athletics are… my cousin Kris played Track & Field/ Cross Country for Notre Dame and my cousin Caroline plays softball for Stonehill College.

My hobbies/interests are…playing other sports, going to the beach, boating, hanging with friends.

I chose GSU because… GSU was the only school that actually felt like home right as I first stepped foot on campus. As I continued to take a tour and talk with the coach I knew I wanted to attend school here.

My favorite athlete is… Michael Phelps.

My favorite movie is… anything with Leonardo DiCaprio.

My favorite TV show is… The Office or Friends.

My favorite sports team is…the New York Islanders.

My favorite food is… anything with seafood.

My favorite place on campus is…any place with a good view of the amazing sunset.

My favorite cartoon character is…Spongebob.

My favorite volleyball player is…Kerri Walsh-Jennings.

I started volleyball in… 7th grade.

My most memorable match is… winning against four league rival’s, Kings Park, during regular season play.

My favorite thing about GSU Volleyball is… that the team is an actual family/sisterhood.

The best road trip I’ve ever taken was… driving with my best friend Hannah to Hershey Park from our hometown (about a 4 hour drive one way).

The best thing about GSU is… the people here are some of the most friendly, nice people I’ve ever met.

If I wasn’t playing college volleyball, I would be…getting more involved in other things offered at school such as sororities, hall council, academic clubs, etc. to keep me busy.

My idea of happiness is…being with the people I care about.

My role models are…my parents and grandparents.

I would like to have the ability to… sing.

One thing I have to do before I turn 40 is…skydive.

My post-college/career plans are…go to grad school, start a job then work my way up the company (maybe even start my own company).

If I could bring one thing from my hometown to college, it would be… the food (pizza, egg sandwiches, etc.).

I can’t live without… being without other people/socializing.

My greatest fear is…spiders.

My greatest regret is…trying to just fit-in when I was younger rather than just being myself.

The historical figure I would most like to meet is…Franklin Delano Roosevelt because he was more than just our president, but a momentous person for bringing us out of depressions, wars, and other troubles. I think it’d be very interesting to have a conversation with him.

The most famous person I’ve ever met is…Nick Jonas and Eli Manning.

If I could have one superpower, it would be…to fly or read minds.

Thanks, Shea!! Be sure to check out your Knights today as we take on Buffalo State and Cortland @ 10AM & 12:30PM! GO KNIGHTS!
