Game Day “Meet Your Knights”: Senior Emma Lannon

A four-year veteran of the GSUVB program, here’s Emma Lannon to tell you a little bit more about her world-traveling, ice-loving self! Meet our senior RS/OH all the way from Gainesville, Florida!

My full name is… Emma Patience Carter Lannon.

My nickname is… Lanz or Tron.

My birthday is… May 24th.

My major is… Geography & International Relations.

My family members are…Kurt Lannon (dad), Heidi Lannon (mom), and Jeremy Lannon (28 yrs.).

My family members who competed in college and/or professional athletics are…

-Kurt Lannon (dad)—Basketball @ SUNY ESF

-Heidi Lannon (mom)—swimmer @ University of Ulster

My hobbies/interests are…traveling, longboarding, juggling, and backpacking.

I’ve done volunteer work at… a school in the Philippines, in India with poor children and teaching women about their rights, and in Peru where I educated children in rural villages.

I am involved in organizations/honor societies on campus, such as… geography club.

I chose GSU because… after coming here and meeting the girls on the team, I knew this was the place for me. I love the atmosphere at Geneseo, especially among athletes. Geneseo allows everyone to be who they want to be and discover what they love.

 My favorite athlete is… AJ Puk.

My favorite movie is… 10 Things I Hate About You.

My favorite TV show is… One Tree Hill.

My favorite sports team is… the Florida Gators.

My favorite food is…ice.

My favorite place on campus is… the GIS lab.

My favorite cartoon character is… Patrick Star.

My favorite vacation spot is… Malta (an island in the Mediterranean).

My favorite volleyball player is… Paige Pendleton.

I started volleyball in (age/grade)… 5th grade.

My most memorable match is… the AAU National Championship in 2012.

My favorite thing about GSU Volleyball is… the Nike Gear!

The best road trip I’ve ever taken was… to the Florida Keys.

Before every match, I… blast music and eat ice.

This summer, I…worked at a summer camp for kids with cancer.

The best thing about GSU is… the sunsets.

When I run out onto the court in Schrader Gym, I think…why don’t we have AC?

If I wasn’t playing college volleyball, I would be…travelling the world.

My idea of happiness is…driving around in my Jeep blasting country music.

I would like to have the ability to… whistle loudly with my fingers.

My fantasy job/career would be… to be a US Ambassador to a foreign country.

One thing I absolutely have to do before I turn 40 is… visit all 7 continents.

My post-college/career plans are… to work abroad.

If I could bring one thing from my hometown to college, it would be… college football.

The most unusual thing the average person would not know about me is…that I can stick my tongue up my nose.

I can’t live without…ice.

The greatest invention of the last 100 years is…GIS.

My greatest fear is…a scuba diving accident.

If I could have one superpower, it would be…teleportation.
